How does the lye in your soap affect skin safety?
While lye (sodium hydroxide) is used in the soap-making process (and has been used for centuries), it's completely transformed during saponification. No active lye remains in the final product, resulting in a gentle, pH-balanced soap that's safe for all skin types.
Note that lye is required to make soap. If lye is not used, then it's not considered a true soap.
Why do you use tallow in your soap?
We use 100% grass-fed, grass-finished Australian cattle tallow because it's rich in nutrients that your skin craves. Tallow mimics the skin's natural oils, allowing for perfect absorption and nourishment.

3 years ago I had my first eczema breakout. Even tho I have used the creams and soap the dermatologist told me to use, my face has been plagued with itchy red bumps. On day 3 of using Tallow soap and especially the Day & Night moisturizer, the bumps had almost disappeared. Rosacea was less apparent too. I’m floored and thrilled. I have perioral dermatitis or eczema on my face that I've been trying to cure. This soap is gentle enough to clean but not cause any further inflammation. I moisturize with tallow after while my skin is still wet which has been soothing. I'm happy to find a soap that I can rely on.
